Some concerns may be require more time with your physician. Your doctor may ask to see you for another appointment.

Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARCs)

Intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants are the most effective methods of reversible contraception. The main advantage of these methods is that they are highly effective and maintenance free. They are rapidly reversible allowing fertility to return once the device is removed.

  • Nexplanon- a small progesterone releasing device that is implanted in the inner upper arm and last for 3 years
  • Paragard- a hormone free copper intrauterine device that provides pregnancy prevention for 10 years
  • Mirena- a hormone releasing intrauterine device that provides pregnancy prevention for 5 years
  • Kyleena- a small hormone releasing intrauterine device that provides pregnancy prevention for 5 years
  • Skyla- a small hormone releasing intrauterine device that provides pregnancy prevention for 3 years
  • Liletta- a small hormone releasing intrauterine device that provides pregnancy prevention for 6 years

Doctor approval and the corresponding sign patient consent form must be received for the ordering process to begin

Our office will verify your insurance coverage for the procedure. If your insurance plan has 100% contraceptive coverage, your order will process through the specialty pharmacy or our office. If you have a financial responsibility that exceeds your copay, you will be notified to see if you wish to proceed.

The prescription is then faxed to the specialty pharmacy that is contracted with your insurance. They will verify your benefit information for the device only. Please allow 2-6 weeks.

The specialty pharmacy may need to contact you regarding your financial responsibility and/or to get final approval to ship. This phone call may be required to finalize the order.

Our office will notify you when your device arrives. You do not need to be on your cycle to have your device inserted. All patients will have a urine pregnancy test performed on the day of insertion.

Permanent Sterlization

When your family is completes, sterilization may be the right option for you. Our doctors my perform either partial or complete tubal excision. Sterilization may be done at the time of delivery or immediately postpartum. Our doctors offer laparoscopic sterilization for patients who are not recently pregnant. Sterilization is permanent and irreversible.

Colposcopy

If your pap smear results reveal any abnormalities, you doctor may recommend a colposcopy. A colposcopy is a specialized exam of the cervix utilizing a lighted microscope to identify problems that can not be seen by the eye alone. This in-office procedure is quick and causes minimal discomfort. If you are scheduled for this procedure, take two Ibuprofen one hour before your appointment. Before your procedure, you will have your vitals taken and we will test your urine to make sure you are not pregnant.

Endometrial Ablation

Your doctor may recommend endometrial ablation as treatment for heavy or irregular uterine bleeding that is not responsive to medications. This procedure is quick and done as out-patient and requires no incisions. We offer 2 types of endometrial ablation

  • Novosure- uses radio-frequency energy to gently and safely remove a thin layer of the lining of the uterus. The procedure takes less than 5 minutes
  • Genesys-HTA-uses hydro-thermal energy. Fluid is heated and circulated in the uterus for 10 minutes

Endometrial ablation is not for women who intend to become pregnant in the future or are undecided. Endometrial ablation is NOT contraception.

Endometrial Biopsy

During an endometrial biopsy, a soft, straw-like device (pipette) is used to suction a small sample of the lining of the uterus, or endometrium. The sample is sent to a lab to be inspected under a microscope for abnormal cells that may result in difficulty becoming pregnant, precancerous or cancerous cells; or heavy, prolonged, or irregular bleeding. This in-office procedure is quick and causes only minimal discomfort. If you are scheduled for an endometrial biopsy, take two regular-strength Ibuprofen tablets (if no allergies) thirty to sixty minutes prior to your appointment. Before the procedure, we will take your vitals and collect a urine specimen to confirm that you are not pregnant.

Endosee Office Hysteroscopy

Endosee Office Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic tool that lets your doctor see the inside of your uterus quickly and easily right in his or her office, without the need for general anesthesia in an operating room. Endosee helps find the cause of several common issues women face such as abnormal bleeding and infertility concerns. Before using Endosee, your doctor will need to look at your health history, but most women are able to have the procedure without a problem. If you are scheduled for this procedure, you should avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal medications or creams & douching for 24 hours before the procedure. Your doctor will discuss any additional steps and may prescribe a special medication to soften the cervix

Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment

Our doctors specialize in Women’s Health. Some of the areas of focus are:

  • Osteoporosis
  • DEXA bone density testing
  • Hormone therapy for menopausal women
  • Breast, Ovarian, and Uterine cancer screenings
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Endometriosis
  • Urinary incontinence

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is a safe and effective alternative to open surgery. During MIS, the surgeon uses small incisions and the procedure is performed laparoscopically or robotically, instead of a large abdominal incision.

Minimally Invasive Surgery offers less pain and quicker recovery times compared to open surgery. MIS can be use to treat many conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, and endometriosis.

Our physicians offer both Single Incision and Robotic Surgery. Your doctor will determine if MIS is right for you.
